Day 4 – St Austell (ish)
Good morning all, what a lovely sunny morning we have today!!!
You get to an age where even though you set a wake up alarm, the need for the loo will always wake you up much earlier!!! No snooze allowed there 🤣🤣🤣
Breakfast was at 7am this morning, and on the menu today…well….let’s see….umm….I think I’ll have stove made porridge with oat milk, oj followed by my obligatory mug of hot water….Nisha decided to have a boiled egg, toast with jam, oj and get obligatory mug of tea…

Both breakfasts were prepared by sous chef Nisha, and I have to give the porridge a rating of 8/10, nice and creamy!!! Nisha gave her breakfast a rating of 8/10, her 8 minute egg was perfection but tea could have been better!!! 😜
As we were enjoying breakfast too much, our morning meeting took place while we were showering and getting dressed. It appeared that Nisha had done some quick research and found a beach called Polkerris. Nice, secluded and a good place to swim. The car was already packed from yesterday so we grabbed our essentials and off we set. Default sat nav is now google…main roads only 🤣🤣🤣 so of course we got stuck in traffic but that was due to a rta…our journey was only 25 minutes, and again, the car park was down a single track yet busy road. Nisha was adamant that she wanted to swim so we unloaded the car, she carried 3 bags (fist bag had her wetsuit and accessories , second bag her swimsuit and the last bag had her dry robe) and I had our rucksack. What’s the saying…all the gear yet no idea 🤣🤣🤣😜😜😜. We found a nice area on the beach and Nisha started the long process to get ready…the final product:

While Nisha was enjoying the warm sea and doing a few laps, I was reading my book, yep, totally gutted that I couldn’t be in the water with her!!! after about 30 minutes, Nisha left the sea…no, not like the creature from beyond 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Looking tired yet refreshed, she was ecstatic that she finally managed a swim in the sea!!!
While Nisha was getting changed, I spotted a seal having fun in the sea…it looked like a baby seal…

It now became apparent why Nisha didn’t spend longer in the sea…she was worried about an under current and also about either a shark or the sea lion coming and eating her up!!! I’m still trying to get my head round that…but I had to laugh at headline Nisha came up with – ‘Indian woman eaten by shark in Cornwall’. I blame the tv programmes she watches 🤣🤣🤣
Eventually, Nisha got changed back into normal clothes 😜😜🤣🤣 and we returned ALL of the bags to the car, and went back to the beach to find food and drink. The hut only served tea, coffee and cakes, the pizza place didn’t look too just so we opted for the local pub, found an empty table on the terrace and ordered. We shared a Cornish cheese and pickle sandwich with chunky chips and two coffees. No photos of the food but this is was our view…

Dessert or a drink????

I had chose the wine while Nisha tried and loved the alcohol free ale…the sun was shining and the temperature must have hit at least 23c…we took our time and just relaxed!!!
Time for some movement…so a walk around the small harbour gave us even more spectacular views…

By now, the heat has got to us and both were feeling tired…so, option 1 was to go back home and relax, and enjoy the weather on our decking or, option 2, find another beach/walk…option 1 won!!!
At home, we emptied the car, Nisha had to rinse all of her swim gear while I exercised my shoulder (I’m making slow progress!!)
Dinner will be thepla and fruit…we both feel stuffed from lunch!!!
